Focus T25 ALPHA Cycle Review
Focus T25 ALPHA Cycle
Beachbody’s Focus T25 is a DVD workout series from Shaun T. The Focus T25 is split into Alpha and Beta cycles, and the Alpha Cycle is the first one. The Focus T25 Alpha Cycle is a high intensity cardio and strength workout that is meant to build a solid foundation to your workouts. It’s all about burning fat and toning muscles and NOT building bigger muscles.
Each workout is 25 minutes long and the Focus T25 Alpha Cycle takes five weeks to complete. Every Saturday is a rest day and every Sunday is for stretching. Fridays are double workout days, where you do two workout videos back to back.
Focus T25 Alpha Cycle – Alpha Cardio
This is a 25-minute cardio workout that doesn’t require any equipment and has a separated 2:25 minutes stretch/cooldown. There’s an exerciser who works as a “modifier” in every workout, so you can fallow her when you need to take it a little slower.
The first 2-minutes is a warmup that starts slowly but then gradually builds up. For me, this workout was the most challenging for my legs and especially for my quads.
I liked that there was such a variety of moves and it didn’t felt like a 25-minutes torture, although I was soaking wet. Efficient cardio workout that uses every second of the 25-minutes time period.
Focus T25 Alpha Cycle – Speed 1.0
Speed 1.0 is all about speed, stability and stretch. Compared to the previous Alpha Cardio workout you will be moving faster and I’m not just talking about moving your feet faster. Just like in Alpha Cardio, you won’t be needing any equipment and there’s an exerciser for the modified moves to take it slower.
During the stretch movements, I could catch my breath but the last 10-minutes were intense. The first time I did the Speed 1.0 I did have problems with keeping up, but that was mainly because my lack of rhythm.
Focus T25 Alpha Cycle – Total Body Circuit
On the Total Body Circuit the focus is on strength and resistance. This workout is different from the two previous ones. In this workout, you will be doing different variations of same exercises but with different intensities. Whole body workout with different types of squats, pushups and planks.
This was more focused on the upper body than the Alpha Cardio and Speed 1.0 and had more complex movements. I liked that the exercises were alternated with other exercises, rather than doing all the plank or pushup exercises at once. I also liked the fact that strength and resistance workout could be done by just using your own bodyweight and didn’t need any weights.
Focus T25 Alpha Cycle – Ab Intervals
Ab Intervals is an interval-based fat-burning routine for your core. The workout is a combination of specific abdominal exercises with some interval cardio. Like the other ones, this one also starts slowly and easy but the exercises progress to more challenging. Compared to the previous workouts, this workout is less cardio intense. The cardio was nice break for the abs and great for getting heartrate up.
Focus T25 Alpha Cycle – Lower Focus
As the name implies, this a lower-body workout that is designed to strengthen and sculpt your muscles from the waist down. The majority of exercises in this workout are lunges and squats that really burns out your legs. The Lower Focus workout had similarities with Alpha Cardio with same exercises, but the Lower Focus workout was little bit more challenging.
